An International Affair

Candace & James – March 26, 2021

Why did we love it? Candace and James toured with us and booked in January 2020 for an April wedding that was to happen before her brother deployed overseas. They booked before our tipis were even stateside!! The trust they had in us was so appreciated – and that trust was definitely tested when the pandemic hit.

Public AND private gatherings weren’t technically banned until May. However, the majority of their guests were coming from overseas (she grew up in Japan and together they had traveled extensively). The airports had shut down across the world, so they decided to postpone…with no alternative date in mind, we assured them we’d make it work.

They got married on schedule with just a handful of folks and decided to celebrate in a big way at EPW once it was safe for all their loved ones to join them, which ended up being in March 2021

I loved that they brought drinks from all over the world that they loved to fill the ice canoe, so guests would be at home in Texas. They decided to keep things simple decor wise, with just macrame on our cedar arbor and pampas grass flanking it.

Her fishtail braid and embroidered lace dress was so enchanting! They decided to eat their tacos at the top of ridge together alone, and had a good ole’ taco cheers moment. Their guests had a blast with the yard games from cocktail hour all the way until the end of the night. It was a party truly worth the wait.
